When it comes to buying Christmas presents, there’s quite a bit of thought that goes into it, especially for those people that are super picky and hard to buy for. We all have those people in our lives, and that person for me is my dad. I usually end up getting him a shirt or something, but I wanted to give him something a little more special and “surprising” this year.
I headed over to Marshalls to do some Christmas shopping and while browsing through the men’s clothing, accessory, & “gift” section, I found tons of super cool gifts that my friends would like, but nothing that screamed out “Mark Stuart” to me. While looking in the home goods section, my mom found these super nice Marquis by Waterford crystal wine glasses. I decided to get these for my dad because he LOVES wine and only has one or two “everyday” glasses left (the rest broke). These seem super sturdy and although they’re more fancy, the style is still manly enough.
I ended up finding a few more gifts and bought this antique-inspired jewelry box for my mom. She has a TON of jewelry, but doesn’t really have any storage for it, so it’s just laying on her bathroom countertop. Marshalls currently has so many different jewelry storage pieces like this because they make the perfect gift for pretty much any woman.
So many young folks (like myself) are super into adventuring right now. When I saw this Adventure Journal (that usually retails for $32), I immediately thought of my friend Conrad. He has an Instagram account called @viewcalifornia where he shares facts about different places he’s traveled to in California, so I thought it would be perfect for him to document where he’s been, and also find new places to go.
Another great gift for someone who’s into adventuring is this Scratch Map. It’s a giant world map that has gold foil on it, and you can scratch off all of the different places you’ve been to around the world. What’s super cool about this map is that as you scratch away at it, it reveals cool facts about all the different places.
Time to talk gift wrapping! Every Christmas, Marshalls always has a HUGE gift wrap section with so many different options. I decided to go with two different styles this year: “Merry & Bright” and classic & natural.
I wrapped my mom’s jewelry box in this adorable box with some metallic gold foil tissue paper…
…and topped it off with a fitting gift tag!
I wrapped my dad’s wine glasses in this very classic red plaid wrapping paper that I’ll probably end up using for all my other gifts this year because I’m so into red plaid!
Because my mom is the queen of wrapping presents and making them look super pretty, I got some help from her for tying the bow and adding some decoration on top.
I also love this ivory wrapping paper that has gold Christmas trees on it! A simple red velvet bow & gift tag made the finishing touches on this one.
The map was a little hard to wrap. But after a second try, I was able to make it look somewhat pretty! haha
During my trip to Marshalls, I also picked up this red plaid “joy” pillow for my bedroom. I was trying to decide between this one and another red plaid pillow that had a snowflake on it but went with this one. As you may know, I struggle with depression and recently mentioned on Instagram that I’ve been working on my pessimistic personality. I bought this pillow to have in my room as a reminder to always choose joy, no matter what the circumstances. Although it’s “the most wonderful time of the year,” it can be easy to get the holiday blues and become a Scrooge, especially when there’s so much evil happening around the world. I’ve definitely suffered from the holiday blues before, but not this year because I’m choosing joy. It’s amazing how much of a difference it can make in your life when you choose to see the good in all circumstances!
Who’s that one person in your life that’s hard to buy for?
